Afterthoughts!

The 1st 6 episodes of this second part of the 1st Season took a very interesting turn as in this we learned about Askeladds past, also how hungry Thorkell can actually be for battle, to add on top of this, it became a time for Canute to grow as a character as he deals with the loss of 1 of his closest friends called Ragnar, killed by the hands of Askeladd himself.

Thorfinn in this time definitely bought to exhaustion on the battlefield when Thorkell sent his troops to go an find Canute to which Thorfinn was defending, whilst he was defending Canute, he remembered his prize for revenge being Askeladd the reason why he seeks to duel him, returns to find Thorkell & Askeladd, sling shotting comments at each other, to which now leads to Thorfinn to go up against Thorkell again.

As we start to move into the last 6 episodes we the audience really get to have a look as to who Canute, Askeladd & Thorfinn descend from, as they all stem from Royalty of a sort, also how different each family responded in regards to either wanting a throne, to not wanting one at all.

As things progress towards the last 3 episodes, Canutes meeting with his father the king in an imperial council meeting, the king hits a nerve with Askeladd, which causes him to go pale, as Floki watches by the kings side, then we start to reach the conclusion of this season, with an unexpected result, another thing that really stands out in this time of these episodes is Leif Ericsons Loyalty & Honor to Thorfinns family, by seeking him out in the cells to which he was taken, as he becomes a bit of beacon of hope for Thorfinn, as it also reflects the same in the Manga.

I really enjoyed the performances of both main & supporting cast in this, really enjoyed the animation in relation to the landscapes, can’t wait for season 2, would it be a perfect adaption from the manga of its 1st big arc, not fully, but the story was still really enjoyable coming from the manga to being adapted to anime on screen, I stick with the ratings I give for this season.
